Guided Walleye Trips
Green Bay is widely regarded as one of the premier walleye fisheries in the world, offering both exceptional size and abundance. When fishing with Captain Riley, trips are focused on targeting trophy walleyes, with opportunities for eater-sized fish depending on the season. Walleye fishing techniques include both casting and trolling, depending on the bite and conditions, with night trolling trips also available. Trophy walleyes are available year-round, with peak periods from early March through mid-May and again from late July until ice-up. Fish in the 26–29 inch range are common, with some exceeding 30 inches. Eater walleye trips are also available.
Guided Smallmouth Bass Trips
Green Bay and Lake Michigan offer exceptional smallmouth bass fishing, known for both quality and abundance. These trips take place on some of the most scenic waters in Door County. All smallmouth bass trips are conducted using casting techniques. Smallmouth bass fishing is available from late April through August, with fish commonly ranging from 1–3 pounds and many reaching 5 pounds, with occasional catches up to 7 pounds. It is not uncommon to catch 50 or more smallmouth bass in a single outing.
Guided Spring Trout Trips
Spring trout fishing on Lake Michigan is an often-overlooked opportunity, offering excellent action early in the season. Target species primarily include brown trout and steelhead, with occasional salmon and lake trout. This fishery begins as soon as conditions allow boat access and runs through early May, with April being a particularly productive time.
Trips are primarily conducted using trolling techniques, with casting opportunities available under favorable conditions. These fish are typically bright, silver, and excellent table fare. At RHF Trophy Angling, we emphasize responsible harvest—keeping only what you plan to eat—and encourage the release of trophy fish to help preserve the resource.
Spring trout are known for their aggressive strikes, frequent aerial displays, and powerful fights, making for an exciting and memorable experience. Captain Riley is always available to answer any questions and ensure a successful trip.
Guided Summer Salmon/Trout Trips
Summer salmon and trout trips on Lake Michigan offer some of the most exciting fishing of the year. The season typically runs from early May through late July. King salmon are the most powerful fish in the lake, delivering an intense fight and excellent table fare. Steelhead are also a favorite, known for their acrobatic jumps and consistent action, often continuing to bite even when the king salmon slow down. Coho salmon, most prevalent in May, are widely regarded as the best eating fish on the lake, while lake trout are present but less common.
During this time of year, fish are typically harvested, as they provide outstanding table quality. A summer salmon and trout trip with RHF Trophy Angling offers a more hands-on experience than a traditional charter. All trips are conducted aboard Captain Riley’s Nitro ZV20. Targeting salmon from a multi-species “walleye-style” boat has become increasingly popular. Captain Riley provides valuable insight and techniques that anglers can apply on their own future outings.
